Enrichment Program
Why enrichment?
Animals staying in shelters experience stressful environment and can be both mentally and physically under-stimulated. Small areas such as cages and runs prevent pets from getting the full mental and physical enrichment needed to be happy and healthy. This lack of control can be very stressful for animals and can lead to boredom, anxiety, and the development of behavior problems.
Animals have needs that range from food, water, and other basic necessities to more complex requirements, such as physical exercise, mental stimulation, and the ability to engage in natural, instinctual behaviors— Enrichment provides dogs and cats with ways to exercise their natural instincts in safe, appropriate, and fun ways.
How can I help?
While volunteering your time to CAA is a great way to lend a helping hand, we understand that you may have a busy schedule! Donations to our shelter’s Enrichment Program is a helpful way to contribute to your community shelter even with a busy schedule. The items below are what CAA is most in need of to create enrichment for pets in need with direct links to purchase.
Most of these items (and many more!) can be purchased from our Amazon and Chewy Wishlist. Live too far from the shelter? No worries, you can ship items directly to pets in need.
